No, this is not a post about bread (though I will be finishing it up tomorrow!).
After making some sort-of plans for New Year's Eve last night, I couldn't help but be reminded on NYE last year. I wrote this on the 30th. My grandmother died the next day. After work, I went home to pack, then stopped at the liquor store for wine and champagne on my way out of town. I spend NYE with my mom in a hotel room in Cookeville. It was a really hard night.
While I will take time this year to remember my grandmother (she was such a lovely woman), I'm also planning on ringing in the new year on a happier note. Just as long as no one dies...
I'm on Christmas break now...no more work until December 29! I look forward to this break every year, and am looking forward to having time to relax. And clean out my closets.
Whew. This past week is a blur.
However, I am back home and writing from my home computer. It's wonderful.
My grandmother passed away on New Year's Eve. The funeral was this afternoon. It was a lovely service, and I know she would be pleased with it.
I will be catching up on responding to comments sooner rather than later. And I'm going to do my 2007 recap and talk about my plans for 2008. But for now, I'm going to eat some pizza and then sleep. Sleep sleep sleep.
This has been the hardest Christmas ever for me, and for much of my family as well. I'm really really tired and don't want to get into details tonight, but my grandmother (mom's mother) is now in the hospital after having another stroke (she now can't swallow), pneumonia, and the beginnings of kidney failure.
Hospice has been called, and I know that they are keeping her comfortable and preventing suffering. My mom will be here on Friday, and I want to give her a big hug.
I just got home a bit ago after spending much of the day at the hospital. I'm about to put on pajamas and go to bed.
Honestly, it hasn't even really felt like Christmas today.
