First of all, here is a picture I took of myself yesterday with my new webcam at work:
The reason I got a webcam is because I'm going to be one of the presenters for a search series in my library's region. Apparently, someone thinks I'm an expert searcher. ;) I can pass on the info if anyone is interested in the webinars (I'm mostly looking at you, Een...).
Speaking of Een, she just reminded me with her post about skin cancer that I am overdue for my dermatologist annual mole check. I will get that done sometime this year. Lately I've been going to so many doctors that I've pushed aside some of the regular stuff.
I'm nearly done with baby blanket #2, and have decided to use the same pattern for #4. I bought the yarn for #3 yesterday, and will be starting it soon. That's all I'm going to say about #3 until after the shower, because I know the mother of the baby it's for reads this blog. :)
I'll be seeing my little sister this weekend for the 4th of July. She got on the phone yesterday telling me about how excited she is about coming to stay with me soon (later this month) "staying with you and your kitty." I told her that I'd see her on Thursday and she was all "yay yay yay!" We're going to have a good time.
Oh, I knew there was something else. I just got an article published in the Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries! My citation is in CINAHL! Exciting! I'm now reworking the article that got rejected earlier this year, and plan to resubmit it soon. And I need to get my CV updated...I try to do that at least once a year, but it seems like a lot has been going on professionally lately.
It's almost 10:00p, which means almost bedtime. Good night!
I like this new blog design. Lilacs make me think of spring in Spokane, which is where my friend H. is right now for her grandmother's funeral.
Now I'm closing in on 3/4 done on baby blanket #1...so close yet so far! I'm actually considering taking off early tomorrow so that I can work more on it. Fortunately, it's a super easy pattern, and easy yarn to work with (Bernat Softee Baby). Yes, a picture is coming soon.
On Wednesday I'll be getting my bottom retainer!!! It's a permanent one that goes behind my teeth. Hopefully, fingers and toes crossed, I'll find out when I'm going to get the top retainer. Getting the top retainer=braces off.
Weather permitting, my friend T. and I are going to Dollywood on Saturday. Hooray!!! I can't decide if I want to take my camera or not. On the one hand, I would love to show all of you the wonderfulness of Dollywood. On the other hand, I want to ride the water rides and get soaked. We'll see... ;)
As the title suggests, I feel so behind on stuff lately. I finally broke out of my almost-week-long rut of not even reading blogs. Even if I'm not writing, I normally keep up with everyone. I feel a bit better now that I've caught up on that.
I'm three episodes behind on Lost, and three behind on Doctor Who (am watching the current season!). I just watched the Gossip Girl finale and enjoyed it. The Office finale left me wondering what will happen next season...which I suppose is the sign of a good finale!
All is well in regards to the getting-ready-for-surgery process. Papers should be submitted to my insurance company soon, and I'll know more about a surgery date after that. In the meantime, I've been making some dietary changes that make me a bit cranky, though I'm trying to stay positive and know that this is all for the best. It is for the best, right? Good health and all that? I know, I know...
I'm about halfway done with a baby blanket (#1 of 4+ of 2008) and will post a pic as soon as it's finished. I'm planning on doing quite a bit of work on it tomorrow.
I really hated missing MLA this year. Such a bummer. Fortunately, I'm *definitely* going next year, as the travel budget was increased at work, and the conference is in Honolulu. :)
I was given a little pot of catnip and I really need to plant it in one of the pots outside. Anyone want to bet on how long it actually lasts? I've got a notorious black thumb, even though I wish I could plant things and make them grow.
This was quite possibly the most boring update ever. Sorry. I hope writing here helps me get out of this crazy rut. I totally need a vacation, or at least a day at Dollywood. :)
I got my Ravelry invitation today. Wow. I can see that this will be a total time suck as soon as I get into it. But it's so awesome.
If you're already there and want to add me, I'm medlibrarygirl. For those of you waiting for your invitation, be patient. It's worth the wait. :)
Here is a picture of baby blanket #3 for this year spread out on the back of my couch. Naturally, Daisy had to get in the picture, too.
I've also made myself a pair of socks! Here is a pic of the pair, and also one of the right sock.
Finally, Baby Blanket #4, using the pattern that devillibrarian posted awhile back. After spreading it out, I realized that it's nearly done!
I just realized that it's been a week since I've updated, so here we go...
Gotcha. You thought I had something really cool to talk about tonight. Nope, it's been the same old stuff around here. Work is good, life is good, Daisy is good. I'm going to visit my dad, stepmom, baby sis, and the puppy this weekend.
Here are a few random things:
* June is going by way too fast. Last year I started making Christmas presents in August and that worked out really well. Now I've only got a month and a half to make more stuff for me/learn some new skills before starting presents. If I decide to make presents again this year. Well, I'll be making something...not sure if it will be my traditional gift of loaves of bread (I've done that a few times) and/or fudge and cookies and/or knitting/crocheting things. I like giving (and receiving!) things made by hand. I wrote out my list today, and pretty much the only "for sure" thing is that I'll be making is for my grandpa: a pair of wool socks and/or a hat.
* I got a new cell phone! Same number of course, but this newer phone makes it so much easier to text. Yay! Oh, and probably the most important thing (besides that there were enough credits/in-store rebates that it cost me nothing): it's PINK!
* I made the best cheddar bread tonight that I've ever made. Everything turned out about as close to perfect as I can imagine it. I'm taking a loaf to my dad's (a Father's Day treat!) and leaving the rest of the other loaf for my catsitter.
* I got a sample of a new cat food, Cat Chow Naturals. Daisy loves it! And they carry it at my local grocery store, so I might get it for her next time.
* I've started watching the American version of The Office on with the Netflix "watch now" feature. I can't believe how funny this show is, and that I haven't been watching it all along!
* There are probably other little things that I could write about, but that would then qualify this blog for one of the most boring ones around. So I think I'll stop for now.
Here are some pictures of what I've been up to so far this year. The only things not pictured are my current works in progress (baby blanket #3 and a pair of socks).
Baby Blanket #1 for Goddesslibrarian:
Okay...only 1 crochet project and 1 cross-stitch project to finish before December 20. I think I can do it!
Plus I still need to write & mail Christmas cards, as well as wrap all of the presents that I've made/bought. It's definitely crunch time but I think I can do it! :)
I just reviewed my list, and see that I still have a cross-stitch project and 5 crochet projects to finish before December 20.
I need to fix up and mail Christmas cards. And I need to wrap all of these presents...some need to go in the mail.
I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed.
