No, this is not a post about bread (though I will be finishing it up tomorrow!).
After making some sort-of plans for New Year's Eve last night, I couldn't help but be reminded on NYE last year. I wrote this on the 30th. My grandmother died the next day. After work, I went home to pack, then stopped at the liquor store for wine and champagne on my way out of town. I spend NYE with my mom in a hotel room in Cookeville. It was a really hard night.
While I will take time this year to remember my grandmother (she was such a lovely woman), I'm also planning on ringing in the new year on a happier note. Just as long as no one dies...
I'm on Christmas break now...no more work until December 29! I look forward to this break every year, and am looking forward to having time to relax. And clean out my closets.
* Daisy is curled up on my bed. She looks really cozy.
* I hope the Colts win tonight.
* Book club is at my apartment tomorrow. I've done all of the cleaning in the public areas except the sweeping/mopping and vacuuming. Fortunately, that can be done easily tomorrow. I've also got to make some deviled eggs and maybe something else.
* It's been a good day. I enjoy getting up in time for church and having at least a semi-productive day. It's been fun cleaning and getting ready to play hostess tomorrow!
* And now, a picture of the adorable Daisy (taken just a couple minutes ago):
Out of the blue I got the urge to clean. Now, I had been thinking about cleaning some this weekend, mostly decluttering. I figured anything I can do before my vacation at home (August 21-25) would be a good thing. So, since around 12:30 today, this is what I have done.
- showered (including shaving underarms and legs and scrubbing feet)
- got dressed and put hair in scrunchy ponytail
- cleaned the kitchen (washed all dishes--including cat dishes, wiped down counters)
- cleaned off the dining room table (that's my #1 clutter spot)
- dusted all rooms
- vacuumed all rooms
- cleaned the bathroom
- swept kitchen and bathroom (would have mopped, but was out of mopping stuff)
- cleaned/decluttered the bedroom
- did all laundry, including sheets and quilt I use as a bedspread
Now I am tired.
I should mention that I did this in the most painless way I could. I set my microwave timer for 15 minutes, worked on one area, then set it again for 15 minutes for another area. Every 45 minutes I took a break for 15 minutes, which was nice. And during the course of the day, I've drunk at least 2 liters of water. The goal now is to keep the apartment this way forever with daily maintenance. And I won't have to do major cleaning during my upcoming vacation.
I still need to do some filing, shredding, closet cleaning and such. But that can wait until tomorrow. Now it's time to crochet while watching Firefly and finding something for supper.
