It's really snowing here. Big fluffy flakes that look super-soft. It's sticking to the rooftops, grassy areas, and tops of cars. I actually don't mind the snow right now because I don't have to leave the apartment until tomorrow morning. I'm just watching it from my bedroom window while goofing off online, listening to music, and drinking my second cup of tea. I'll be exercising soon, but for now, I like chilling out and watching the snow.
Sadly, I didn't document this past weekend with photographs. My dad and Alex came to visit me yesterday. We went to the Lady Vols game (yay, we won!) and had a great night. They left early this morning, and I'm glad I'll be seeing them again soon for Alex's birthday (she'll be *6*!!). Daisy is taking a long morning nap to recover. Actually, she did great...Alex was calmer with her, and Daisy rewarded her by not spending all of the time under the bed.
I know there is more to update on, but for now, I'm just going to watch the snow...
Yay Lady Vols basketball!!! Two national championships in a row!
First, I realized that I neglected to mention in my last post that I still need to go to Atlanta for Trader Joe's as well as IKEA and Lush. I hope to get back down there in the next month or two. Too bad gas prices are horrid right now. I wish there were train connections between Knoxville & Atlanta and Knoxville & Nashville.
It's a green weekend for me because yesterday I bought myself some baby spinach, zucchini, and broccoli florets. Without knowing about my green weekend, fauxmiddlechild sent me this recipe for roasted broccoli. I figured I would just steam it, but I think I'll give this a try. I have everything on hand except the ginger, so I'll be trying it without the ginger (unless I just feel like walking to the grocery store later...no sense in driving for just one thing...and I live really close). I think I'll use the baby spinach for salads, but might cook some of it as well (maybe with eggs & cheese tomorrow for a scramble or an omelet).
And the zucchini...well, I'm not sure what to do with it, as I've never cooked it before. I know I like zucchini bread and I like it cooked at a hibachi grill. So maybe I'll cut it up and sautée it in some olive oil (and maybe a dab of butter). Or maybe it would be good roasted along with the broccoli? Hmm...so many possibilities!
It's already 12:20p here, and I'm still in my pajamas. I love Saturdays. :) I think I'll now try to get myself and my apartment cleaned up before the next round of games start...yay March Madness!
The University of Tennessee Lady Vols have won another National Championship! Let's all do a happy dance to celebrate!
(For the sports-impaired, I'm talking about women's college basketball) :)
I am so tired today. I stayed up until 12:30a watching the Tennessee/Ohio State boys basketball game (Sweet 16). We (TN) lost by one point. One. Point. Sigh.
This morning, in an effort to console myself, I decided to buy breakfast. I went to Starbucks and bought a grande iced chai and a butter croissant. I thought the croissant was better than a grocery store croissant, but after the croissant-making lessons provided by Een, I don't know if it's really a "good" croissant.
And the other rule I'm breaking is that I'm writing this from work. I don't expect my brain to hold on to a post like this until I get home today.
